Homewood’s West Shore Cafe & Inn offers the best of summer at Lake Tahoe. Whether you’re in search of fresh, delicious cuisine for lunch, mid-afternoon, or dinner; or a day of paddle boarding, kayaking, or biking, the West Shore Cafe is the go-to spot on the lake. The expansive lawn at the West Shore Cafe & Inn is host to many a game of badminton, croquet, and Frisbee – or for guests who would rather gaze at the water or explore the beach, this is the place.
Have a look at what you’ll find during summer at the West Shore Cafe & Inn:
Arrive via car, boat, bike, kayak, paddle board. Boat and car valet are complimentary:
The West Shore Cafe & Inn’s fleet of paddle boards and kayaks make for a fun day exploring the shore line or venturing out into the big blue! Hotel guests receive complimentary use of water toys, life jackets, as well as bikes.
The lawn and lawn games offer endless hours of both fun and relaxation for any age:
The West Shore Cafe & Inn offers exquisitely beautiful, lakefront accomodations; but did you know that within each guest room or suite exists the coolest flashlight EVER?!?

Summer at Homewood and its surrounding peaks is everything that summer should be: living in the moment of endless days of swimming and the Marco Polo game; hiking through cedar forests; and collecting heart-shaped stones along the beach and trails. Your inner 12-year-old is alive and well while counting as many wildflower types along Homewood’s slopes.
While hiking along the mountain’s second creek above the flume the other day, Homewood Jake’s grandfather mentioned to him that there are about 36 types of lupine. If there is ever a time to find them all, this is it. You’ll also find wild onion, penstemon, tiger lily, mariposa lily, paint brush, mule ear, corn lily, pennyroyal, and arnica, just to name a few.
Quick fun contest: Tahoe’s trails are impossible to match. The open views, granite-encased lakes, sinewy juniper trees, and fragrant jeffrey pine bark tempt anyone to explore. The first reader to identify the location where this photo was snapped, will win two 2011-2012 lift tickets to Homewood. Hint: it is not at Homewood; but for experienced long-hauling hikers, we think you know the way to this location from Homewood (there are other less lengthy access points as well). Submit your entry to HomewoodPhotoContest@gmail.com. Along with your location submission, remember to include your full name and mailing address so that tickets may be sent to you.
And the winner is… Marc Bourrigue of Tahoma, CA! Marc identified this photos location as the top of Mout Tallac. Congrats, Marc!

The Homewood Mini Slopestyle is an annual tradition, and this Saturday’s 3rd Annual Homewood Mini Slopestyle was a hit among kids and parents alike.
The talent pool was deeper than Lake Tahoe: kids 12 and under showed us their style, skill, and their ability to shed inhabitions with unfettered abandon as they navigated the jumps and boxes of Homewood’s mini terrain park. Kids caught LOTS of air – some measured in feet; others in inches; all with a huge measure of fun.
Have a look at the Mini Slopestyle slide show! Photos within this slide show can also be viewed individually and in a variety of sizes, by visiting the Mini Slopestyle album on Homewood’s Flickr page.

Powder is the word in Tahoe, and it’s piled up almost 10 feet deep at Homewood this week, and the sky is turning blue just in time for the holiday weekend.
Yes, that’s 117 inches at the top of Homewood, delivered in the last week’s series of storms, with 76 new inches on the lower mountain.
Don’t believe us? Check out photos from Saturday:
Go to our Snow& Grooming Report for the latest on conditions, and get out and enjoy all the new snow!

Homewood, CA – Homewood Mountain Resort has named Bryan Schilling as the resort’s snow sports school manager. Schilling will oversee Homewood’s adult and children’s ski and snowboard schools, multi-day ski and snowboard clinics, the children’s daily Snow Rangers Academy, and season-long Super Sliders ski program.
An Oregon native, Schilling learned to ski at Timberline Resort. He began his teaching career at Aspen/Snowmass in Colorado. Prior to joining the team at Homewood, Schilling managed the snow sports school at Sierra-at-Tahoe for two years and Heavenly Mountain Resort for five years. As a member of the technical team with the Professional Ski Instructors of America, the sanctioning group which determines instructional standards for snow sports schools across the U.S., Schilling is one of the country’s top instructors and teaching method developers. Additionally, Schilling speaks multiple languages, has taught skiing on four continents, holds a Master’s degree in education, and is a former social studies teacher. No stranger to teaching in any realm, Schilling plans to create a premier snow sports school with an emphasis on families at Homewood.
Available soon this winter, Schilling will implement a new instruction program that offers instruction for an entire family. “Homewood is unique in that it offers a premier setting for families to learn and play together,” Schilling said. “Much of skiing and snowboarding’s fun comes from interacting with friends and family on the slopes – having an unforgettable experience together. Offering family group instruction is a perfect fit for Homewood,” he added.
Schilling has also designed a new intermediate/advanced instructional option for Homewood, which will also become available this winter. “Homewood offers absolutely fantastic glades and powder fields in addition to renowned groomed slopes. The variety is ideal for guests looking to become well-rounded skiers and riders,” he said.
Schilling sees something special at Homewood. “Homewood’s attributes and opportunities stem from what the local community already knows: the views, terrain, and friendly atmosphere are unique and second to none. Homewood is an ideal place for skiers and riders to discover, and the snow sports school will emphasize having fun while learning together,” he said.
For more information about the Homewood snow sport school, multi-day clinics, season-long programs, and the children’s Snow Rangers Academy, visit SkiHomewood.com or call 530.525.2992.
Homewood Mountain Resort is one of California’s first winter recreation resorts. Offering a family-friendly atmosphere since 1961, Homewood continues to offer premier winter skiing and snowboarding with a focus on top level guest service and custom vacation packages. Homewood is accessible via Interstate 80 to California State Route 89, just 55 miles from Reno Tahoe International Airport. Homewood’s parent company is JMA Ventures, LLC, a full service real estate investment firm, serving as managing member of over $500 million in existing projects. Homewood’s annual season passholder party brought new and old friends together at the festive South Lodge Friday, January 14. “Quartet Minus One” jammed, playing both original songs as well as favorite cover sounds by Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder. Guests enjoyed delicious shrimp cocktail, sundried tomato bruschetta, and delicious treats, as well as a celebratory champagne toast to a wonderful winter.

Homewood’s season passholders were in great spirits, as always!
This fantastic skier won this gorgeous hat and Spy goggles, and wore them for the night’s duration:
…and what Homewood party would be complete without the Queen of Homewood, Nancy G., gracing us with her presence? She flashed her famous smile, signed a few autographs, and partook in the night’s revelry:
Quartet Minus One jammed for the entire evening – amazing, talented musicians:
Check out the video from the evening’s festivities:
